CCTV
BS 7958:2005 CCTV
The British Standard used to govern the operation and management of Closed Circuit Television systems is BS 7958:2005. The standard is applicable to CCTV schemes used in public places, which includes areas where the public are encouraged to enter or have a right to visit, such as town centres, shopping malls and public transport.
In some sectors, compliance with the published standard is mandatory. Additionally, in instances of dispute over the operation or management of the CCTV System, including acceptability of evidence produced, compliance to this standard assures you that the right actions have been taken at the right time.
Lone Worker
BS 8484:2009 Lone Worker Devices
It is increasingly common for lone workers to be equipped with electronic devices that enable them to transmit their location and request assistance when they feel threatened. Service providers manage these requests to establish the severity of the lone worker’s situation and pass on all relevant information to the appropriate response services.
BS 8484 gives recommendations for the provision of lone worker device (LWD) services. It applies to suppliers of LWD services, either for their own operations or to customers. It gives the principles and operational procedures to be implemented by a Control Centre so that operators can verify activation messages received from LWDs and assist response services when reacting to requests for assistance from lone workers. BS 8484 will also help to minimize the number of false alarms received by response services.
